Construction Career Pathways Team

In response to projected workforce shortages in the construction industry, the Workforce Network convened the Construction Career Pathway Partnership team in 2009 to meet the needs of employers and employees in the industry.

Vision

A Construction Career Pathways system that drives regional economic prosperity by providing employers with skilled workers who sustain and build their businesses and who are empowered to grow and advance in their careers.

Mission

Our mission, as a collaborative of employers, educators and service providers, is to improve and create the construction career pathways designed to meet the regional workforce needs.

Progress to Date
  • Developed the partnership team consisting of employers or industry associations,  educational institutions, and service providers. Employer chair named for the partnership team.
  • Developing competency model and finalized top in-demand occupations through employer surveys and labor market data.
  • Assisted the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance in securing a $17M U.S. Dept. of Energy Retrofit Ramp-Up grant for large-scale energy efficiency initiatives in our community, including workforce development efforts.
  • Secured $998,976 from Constructing Futures and $100K/year from United Way for pre-apprenticeship training delivered by 6 partners.
  • Secured a $300K grant from the U.S. Dept. of Labor's Women's Bureau WANTO program (Women in Apprenticeships and Non-Traditional Occupations) to improve the systems needed to place 50 women/year into apprenticeships or apprenticeable occupations in the construction, advanced manufacturing and transportation industries.
